Join us on the first Friday of each month for a project! March Pfaff & Viking Technique Class

For our March Techniques Class we are learning and practicing two different subjects. The first one is Napkins – the various ways to hem napkins which can be used for other application in addition to napkins. The second one is manipulating stitches to be used as substitutes for those impossibly small applique pieces and some for applique in general. Fabrics for the Napkins: Fabrics will be provided to make samples of each Technique. Fabrics will be light gray and beige. Fabrics for the Stitches: A few scraps of plain fabrics (non-busy prints or solids) for testing stitches with Tearaway Stabilizer under them. Machine: Sewing machine with Zig-Zag Stitch Plate, ¼” foot, favorite foot for decorative stitches, Wing Needle. You should have gotten a wing needle in the pack of needles that came with your machine. Threads: Cotton thread (Aurifil or similar 50 wt) in a couple neutral colors and 1 or more dark colors Embroidery thread and embroidery bobbin thread for testing stitches Other Supplies: Best Press, Acorn, or other spray starch Small iron and pressing surface Wash Away or Heat Away Marking Pen 12” ruler at least 3” wide Sharp thread scissors Applique trimming scissors Large Hand sewing needle or sturdy large Straight Pin Empty bobbins to wind Normal Sewing Supplies Fabric Preparation: No pre class preparation needed NOTES The instructions will be emailed to those who sign up for class.
