October 19 – Mandalas and Fills: Mandalas are a fun trend in quilting today. In this workshop, look at ways to build these beautiful designs using symmetry, starting with a doodle. Interested in building a library of designs you can use with confidence? In this workshop, you’ll identify shapes you already love to quilt, learn how to create pathways to connect designs, and explore using different threads to really make your background fill quilting pop. There’s a bag for every occasion, and this fun tote bag is an example of how fun and easy bag making can be! You will learn creative ways to use your machine, use decorative stitches and make appliques. There will be plenty of time to experiment with your favorite decorative stitches as you create this “in-the-hoop” project bag. Whether you are a new sewist or have lots of experience this project has great techniques for everyone to learn!

August 20 – Unruffled by Borders
Learn how to plan, resize, and mark quilt borders and corners that will set your quilting apart. Workshop topics include dealing with different types of borders, auditioning designs and figuring out the best stitch path.

August 21 – A Modern Look at Custom Quilting
Stumped by what to quilt in all that negative space? This workshop explores how to fill the space with embedded designs, use easy marking techniques, and balance shape, size and density to provide movement and order on your next modern quilting project.

August 22 – How Do I Quilt It?
Come to this workshop to explore how to create a quilting plan. We’ll look at ways to define the purpose and style of the quilt, build a theme, and choose threads to compliment the piecing of the quilt.

August 23 – Fanciful Feather Foundations
Feather designs add a touch of class to any quilt. Learn to draw and stitch these beautiful elements in many different styles, from traditional to contemporary.
