Texture Hoop Embroidery
The workbook section for this month will be covering Texture Hoop Embroidery. This is a hoop that most of us are not very familiar with. The hoop is designed to allow ribbons, fabric strips, yarns, and other embellishments to be attached to the inner hoop in a pattern for coordinating embroidery designs to stitch over. There are designs built into your embroidery machine for these techniques or you can find additional designs in older embroidery collections. Also, custom designs can be created in the mySewnet software. The hoop will be demonstrated in class.
You are encouraged to stitch out a design in class. If you have done any Texture Hoop projects, please show what you have made during class. To stitch out the design in class you will need the following:
A 150 x150 Texture Hoop
(1) piece of tear away light stabilizer to fit the hoop
Embroidery Threads in colors to contrast/compliment the ribbons
Embroidery bobbin thread
6” x6” square of sheer fabric for applique
Ribbons 12” long - (4 )1½” wide (4) ½” wide
A piece of fabric to fit the 150 x 150 hoop for the base of the design
Thin yarn or embroidery threads multiple strands 12” long
As time permits, we will be using the accompanying project write up to explore using these techniques to create a Texture Hoop Tote Bag.
