Endless, & Patchwork Quilting In the Hoop Embroidery
The workbook section for this month will be covering Endless, & Patchwork in the Hoop Embroidery. Two more techniques that can be used on our embroidery machines.
There are designs built into your embroidery machine for these technique or you can find additional designs in the mySewnet library. Also, custom designs can be created in the mySewnet software.
You are encouraged to stitch out the design in class. If you have done any Endless, or Patchwork Quilting in the Hoop projects, please show what you have made during class. To stitch out the designs in class you will need the following:
A hoop that will allow stitching out of a 145 mm x 145 mm design
- piece of tear away stabilizer or Aqua Magic stabilizer to fit the hoop or (1) piece of muslin to
fit the hoop
Embroidery Threads in colors you like.
A bobbin wound with one of the embroidery threads
Fabric pieces as shown in the Embroidery Sampler book for design E 16 or E17 - cut these fabric
pieces about 3/8” larger than the drawings in the book.
As time permits, we will be using the accompanying project write up to explore using these technique to create a mini quilt in the hoop. The quilt blocks could also be used for many other projects.
The quilt in the project writeup is about 32” square. It could be made any size that you would like. The embroidered blocks are 6” before being joined. Endless embroidery is used to embellish the sashing strips between the blocks.
