Specialty Embroidery Techniques
The workbook section for this month will be covering Specialty Embroidery Techniques. These includes Fringe, Felting, Yarn Couching, Thread Velvet, Cutwork, and Ribbon Embroidery. Some of these Techniques require the purchase of additional needles, feet, or attachments which are listed below. Most of the class will be in lecture/demo mode. If you have attempted to use these techniques, you are encouraged to show your projects and ask questions. You will learn that your machine has a lot of built-in help for you for these techniques.
Additional needles, feet, or attachments needed:
Fringe – no additional
Felting – Felting Embroidery Set
Yarn Couching – Yarn Couching Foot Set
Thread Velvet – no additional
Cutwork – Cutwork needles
Ribbon Embroidery – Ribbon Embroidery Attachment (works on Creative icon only)
As time permits, we will be using the accompanying project write up to explore how some of these techniques and features can be used to create a Baby Burp Cloth and Bib. The same designs and techniques could also be used for many other projects.

Small scraps of green and yellow for applique
1/8 yard ribbing
Aqua Mesh water soluble stabilizer

Construction thread to match fabric
Embroidery threads

Single fold bias tape
Trims such as ribbon, rickrack, lace
Glue stick
