The finished embroidery panel created in this class can be made into a pillow or multiple panels can be made
for a table runner or bed scarf. The techniques used are use of the 360 x 350mm hoop or multiple hoopings
with the 360 x 200mm hoop, in the hoop appliqué and yarn couching as part of the embroidery design.
Supplies needed:
Sewing Embroidery Machine capable of using a 360 x 200mm hoop or the 360 x 350 mm hoop
360 x 350mm or 360 x 200mm hoop with hoop clips
Dynamic Spring Foot 6D for Pfaff - Sensor Q Foot and regular ankle for Viking
Yarn Couching Foot Set appropriate for your machine
Inspira embroidery needles, Size 90
Appliqué scissors
Tear-A-Way stabilizer 20” wide
20” x 22” piece of fabric for embroidery plus a second piece for backing if making a pillow or additional
pieces for a table runner or bed scarf
Scraps of fabric (6” x 6”) for flower appliqué (there are six appliqués) - these can be backed with
Steam-A-Seam
Yarn for couching (2-3 yards) – a tightly twisted yarn will work much better than a loosely twisted or
fuzzy yarn (sport weight / baby weight / 3-ply)
Embroidery thread to match/coordinate with the appliqué fabrics and yarn
Bobbin thread
Sewing thread for assembling project
18” zipper for pillow
Additional fabrics for pillow flange or ruffle or borders and backing for bed scarf
Pillow form for 14” pillow if using and lining fabric for pillow back if pillow fabric is lightweight
Batting for bed scarf or table runner if needed
Erasable marking pen – Frixion pen recommended
Best Press
Basic Embroidery Supplies
Prepare fabric for embroidery with at least two applications of Best Press and if appropriate,
fuse a fusible backing such as Jenny Haskins Sheer Magic Plus to the wrong side of the fabric. If desired, fuse
Steam-A-Seam to the wrong side of the appliqué fabrics
